Artificial Immune Systems
Dietmar Langer gives a detailed talk about Artifical Immune Systems (AIS). He starts by explaining the terminology and continues to show how the human immune system works. He then talks about antibodies and how to maintain diversity in the set of antibodies by mean of the somatic recombination as well as how to optimize the affinity of these antibodies towards the antigenes by mean of the clonal selection theory. He continues to show how to model an AIS algorithm using a newer purely theoretical concept, known as Idiotypic Networks. Finally he presents the functionality of the AIS and its characteristics.
