Evolutionary System Identification

Stephan Winkler repeated the presentation given in the context of his PhD thesis defense. In this presentation he summarized the main aspects of the research regarding system identification using genetic programming as described in his PhD thesis.
After giving a motivation for data based system identification he summarized the main ideas of genetic programming and evolutionary system identification. He then summarized algorithmic extensions which he investigated in his doctoral studies as well as several ways how to monitor internal genetic prcesses in GP based identification algorithms. Finally he summarized test results obtained in various application areas (including the identification of technical systems as well as machine learning problems).
