Musik-Generierung mit Evolutionären Algorithmen - Konzepte Kreativer Systeme

Harald Bittermann, a master student at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg, showed the final presentation he drew from his master thesis. He presented a very different application of evolutionary algorithms: To create music. The samples he showed to the audiences were very interesting to listen to. Harald tried two approaches, one that was unsupervised using the derivation from a certain statistic distribution as fitness function and another one which was supervised, i.e. where humans evaluate the quality of a certain musical piece. It was unarguable that the generated results can be classified as music, some came even close to the music found in very old computer games.
